James Trezies (1905-1993)

In January 2004, while browsing in a secondhand bookshop, I noticed a number of interestingly bound books and booklets, many of which incorporated beautiful hand-written labels. All had quite clearly come from a single collection. I took home a number of these, and on looking at them in more detail, was amazed by the high quality of the bookbinding and calligraphy.
I was determined to find out a little more about the creator of this work. The bookseller informed me they were the work of a Jim Trezies, who had taught at the Tunbridge Wells Adult Education Centre.
A search of the internet produced only one possible reference was on one of the web pages of Phil Lee, devoted to John Downton (1906-1991), from information provided by Miss Hilda Downton and Miss Isabelle Brewerton. I contacted Phil who was, in due course, able to provide my contact details to Jim's daughter, Judith.
