A branch of the family in Leeds and Wakefield, Yorkshire
Scope
My research through necessity must be very restricted. Even in Leeds only, the surname of
Hartley was at the turn of the last century, not uncommon. The same not unsurprisingly, is
still the case.
Therefore looking only for ancestors and descendants of -
Joseph Hartley, born 1852, married 1871, died 1919,
Fruiterer and Green Grocer,
Wife Mary Eliza (nee Lupton),
Living at 76 Green Road (per 1881 Census and Kelly's Directory of Leeds, 1915).
His Son, Walter is a great-grandfather of the Webmaster.

of the above, who died March 19th
1889, aged 47 years.
Also MARY E. HARTLEY,
born March 21st 1853,
died January 15th 1913.
Also JOSEPH HARTLEY, husband of the above,
and fruiterer, of this city,
who died July 29th 1919, aged 67 years.
His end was peace.
